Citizens meet at the Library Building to organize observance of Winthrop’s 75th anniversary. A banquet is planned for March 28 in Ellis Hall under Charles Bennison, with a separate July 4 celebration chaired by Edgar Power.

Myles A Madison of 82 Sunnyside and Mary E Madison, daughter of Capt White, U S A now in the Philippines, eloped in New York a year earlier, testified missing then traced to Raleigh where they wed on Columbus Day Oct 12 1926. They traveled 21 states, endured floods in Tennessee, and returned to Winthrop arriving January 1.

Winthrop Community Hospital marks four years of service
Four years ago on January 3 the Winthrop Community Hospital opened to receive patients. More than 3,000 people have received care since then, and the institution has grown into a unique community organization. Members contributing $5 or more annually have a vote in the corporation. The annual meeting is next Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Social Hall, Masonic Building, 196 Winthrop Street, rear of the Post Office.
