Wells sets 45 yard hurdles world record at K of C games
E. Montgomery Wells, known as Monty, breaks the 22 year old world mark in the 45 yard hurdles at 5 445 seconds during the New England AAU Championship heats. He led through trials, semis, and finals for Dartmouth affiliate success. Wells, son of Eber T. and Lillian M. Wells of 18 Prescott St, teaches at Winthrop High and sings as a soloist.

Stolen car crash shocks Fort Banks neighborhood
Shortly after midnight residents near Fort Banks on Revere Street awoke to screams and a crash. Patrolman Haigh at Magees Corner heard the commotion and raced toward the scene as deputies and witnesses began to respond.

Heroic Rescue on Ice Bridges Two East Boston Boys Saved
Two 10 year old boys Benjamin Capone and Roland Indriano slipped into Belle Isle creek when ice broke under them near the Winthrop bridge. John Loughlin driven by a truck dived in to rescue, pulling Capone and Indriano to shore with aid from Charles Bradford and Patrolman Douglas. Capone received hospital care for unconsciousness while Indriano was treated at Fort Banks Hospital. Both boys returned home Saturday evening.

Richardson to Aid Tax Filers at Town Hall Sessions
Deputy Assessor Edward G Richardson of the State Income Tax Division will assist residents with 1927 tax returns at Winthrop Town Hall on January 31 from 7 to 9 pm, February 9 from 3 to 6 pm, and February 14 from 7 to 9 pm. The town reports are due to the Board of Selectmen by January 10 ahead of March town meeting.
