New Safety Deposit Boxes Installed for Rent

New safety deposit boxes have been installed with yearly rates of five ten and fifteen dollars. Rent now to secure a box before they are taken and store Liberty Bonds valuable papers and jewelry in a secure location.

Cottage Park Yacht Club Hosts Gala Night With Winthrop Guests

Last Wednesday the Cottage Park Yacht Club held a gala night welcoming Winthrop Yacht Club members. Commodore Willam Oakes greeted guests. events included bowling pool billiards and bridge with Cottage Park and Winthrop teams. Winners enjoyed chowder as the evening closed around midnight. The committee led by William Barclay and Amos Crooks organized the event.

Highlands Association Plans New Pier and Fundraising

President Harry Wright leads Winthrop Highlands Association efforts to build a front beach pier opposite Templeay with an estimated cost at least $2000. Women’s groups will host five dances at the Winthrop Arms on select Saturdays to raise funds, while a May day party may follow. A committee assists Secretary Richardson with plans as interviews with Metropolitan District Commission officials imply approval for the pier.

Narrow Gauge faces fare raise debate at public hearing

Public Utilities Commission heard testimony on a proposed shift to a 10 cent fare unit for the Boston Revere Beach and Lynn Narrow Gauge. Residents urged lower or equal fares, while Mayor Creamer urged classifying the road as a street railway with a straight 10 cent fare to boost competitiveness and revenue.
