Legion Opens Season with 4 to 4 Tie and Winthrop Clash
Last Saturday the Legion basketball team defeated East Boston Independents 4 to 4 at the High School gym. Winthrop led after a strong first period, with scoring from Talcott, Wilson, and Sheehan as Manley paced the Independents. The fresh Winthrop substitutes kept the pace tiring the visitors who finally were outscored in the last frame. The Baysides of Winthrop tied Orient Juniors 0-0 at Ingleside Park in the season’s probable final game, with Greetey and Wellam earning solid gains for the Baysides and Giles breaking through for the Orient Juniors.
