Yeggs Visit the Beach in Bold Holdup

Mrs. Isadore Swarts a Boston store operator was robbed near 409 Shirley Street in Winthrop around midnight Tuesday. A man leaped from a car, grabbed her bag containing about $3 and two pounds of sugar, then fled with accomplices in a car described by police. The incident may have targeted her daughter, and police suspect a professional Boston gang.

St Johns Guild Fair Nets $2000 in Two Days at Parish House

The annual St John’s Episcopal Parish fair at the Parish House on December 7 and 8 drew about 1500 attendees and total receipts reached 2000 dollars. The event showcased music by violinist Mrs. Hester R. Bradshaw and reflected broad parish cooperation across organizations. rector Rev Ralph M. Harper noted that many visitors leave impressed by the church’s effort.

Elks Minstrels Drawbig crowd at Winthrop Theatre

Last Monday and Tuesday evenings the Winthrop Theatre capacity crowd witnessed the Elks minstrels. Proceeds will go to charity. Performers included Dick Stoehr Julian Stiles Harry Foley and others with Louis G H Tucker as interlocutor and a strong slate of soloists and dancing girls. The cabaret portion followed and the show earned applause. next up at Parker Hill Hospital for soldiers.

Railroad Hearing Draws Wide Civic Delegation

A large turnout from our locality and Revere attends the State House hearing on railroad conditions. Speakers include Pres. Fenno Supt. John Sullivan Karl Adams and several road officials. Revere Mayor Walsworth and Senator Casassa press for attention as the decision awaits. The session ends at 1 10 p m with a decision to come.
