A reader asks The New York Sun to publish Virginia's question about Santa Claus and the paper's answer. The request is dated December 20 from Martin Planigan in New York.
A reader letter from eight year old Virginia O’Hanlon asks if Santa Claus exists. The editor replies that children’s beliefs are strong and warns that skepticism comes from a world where all minds are small and limited. The message ends with a note continuing on Page 8.
Last week the Republicans of Winthrop held a jubilee banquet at the CM House, with the dining hall chosen as the gathering site. The event emphasized party unity and local campaign energy.
The scene opens with a crowd gathered at seven something as Manager T. J. Bochterle serves his renowned banquet offerings. Ralph J. Hawkes is noted as leading the event before the page continues on Page 8.
In 1921 the town prepares to muster a new military unit led by Capt Roy Wilson of Bartlett Road. The formation follows proud WWI service by the Machine Gun Company and the State Guard. Wilson will meet volunteers at the Legion Hall next Monday at 7 30 PM to fill remaining vacancies.
Minstrels arrived at Parker Hill wounded with a hospital rule ending activities after 9. The show began at 7 10 and closed when halted. Continued on Page 5.
