Last Rites Held For Major David P Sawyer
Funeral services for Major David P Sawyer 65, Spanish American War veteran, were held at St John the Evangelist Church. He served in D Company 9th Regiment, lived in Charlestown before moving to Winthrop, retired as major, died Wednesday April 10. Survived by wife Alice and son David P Sawyer Jr, brother George C Sawyer. Interment in Winthrop Cemetery.

Former Official Horace Waite Dies at 91 in Winthrop
Horace Waite former town assessor and longtime Winthrop resident died April 16 at his daughter’s Orlando home. Born January 11 1849 in Calais Maine he later worked in Eureka and Boston serving as Sealer of Weights and Measures from 1918 to 1924. He leaves a son H Roy Waite a daughter and five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Private funeral at Forest Hills Crematory Chapel Saturday at 2 p.m.
