Vinita Mayor rules petition for charter election insufficient

The Vinita Oklahoma mayor ruled a petition seeking an election to form a board of freeholders and draft a city charter invalid. He found the petition insufficient, lacking twenty five percent of qualified electors from the city and failing to list twenty five percent from each ward. The decision blocks the call for a charter election, with no immediate move toward ouster or further action until governor Cruce returns.
