In Joplin Missouri on November 7 a gunman fired violently in the heart of the business district wounding four people including Robert Nance 27 and W C Chamberlain 30. Chamberlain fled after firing in a crowded saloon as a farmer H C Wright 65 was struck in the chest. Nance and Chamberlain were taken to the police station, Chamberlain arraigned on a murder charge and jailed without bail.
