Election Afterthoughts Reflect Aftermath of Campaign

We have just passed through a presidential campaign marked by public questions on tariffs and trusts. The election shows the Republican Party damaged and President Taft repudiated. Democrats gained treasurer, district clerk, county clerk, county superintendent, and register of deeds. Republicans took three county commissioners and elected J. S. Mabon by 210 votes. Davenport carried the county by 50 to 60 votes.
