Kelley Death Shocks Vinita as Hay King Dies

Fred L. Kelley, prominent Vinita hay buyer and shipper who dominated northeast Oklahoma's hay trade, died at the Terminal Hotel in St. Louis around 2 AM. Born 1860 in North Curry New Hampshire, he moved to Vinita in 1884 and built a large fortune. Survived by wife Lula Poole, daughter Pauline, sons Fred Jr and George, and brother George, with funeral in Vinita's Methodist church.

Women voters shift California race in December rematch

May Term District Court Adjourned Today

The May term of the district court was formally adjourned this morning. The only business at yesterday's session was the setting of the criminal docket for the November term, which opens next Monday. The criminal business for this term is light with the Avrid Johnson fraud case prominent in the proceedings and several cases set for trial next week including state v. John Parks shooting Chas Jeans and other indictments.

Will Investigate Feed Sold In Vinita Horses

An investigation may soon be made into the epidemic killing many horses in Vinita. Over the past weeks several cases of the blind staggers have caused horse deaths. It is believed rotten corn in the chops sold for feed is to blame. Some chops will be sent to the state board of agriculture for inspection.

Died While on Visit in City Home

Miss Anna Alta Haskell of Atlanta Ga died this morning at the home of J M Corah in the city while visiting Mrs Corah. She came here a few days ago for a visit and on Saturday fell seriously ill with quick tuberculosis and died. A message was sent to her relatives who will arrive tomorrow night. The body will likely be sent back to Atlanta for interment.

Oklahoma Faces Tough Challenge From Brewer Lead Opponent
