Wets to Try Again Ten Overthrow Prohibition Oklahoma City

A proposed constitutional amendment aims to repeal prohibition by creating an initiative petition starting August 1 by the Oklahoma Local Option Association. It would require the next legislature to legalize and regulate intoxicating liquor, while preserving existing prohibitory laws until action is taken. The group must gather around 64,000 signatures, about 20 percent of voters, with a 90 day window to meet the target, otherwise the issue would await the next general election.
