Town fights meals tax move with PILOT plan
The town sues to stop collection of a meals tax while some eateries and hotels face a corridor tax. A 2010 council resolution pauses meals or lodging tax collection from corridor businesses, with estimated lost revenue around 300000 annually. The judge found earlier contract language vague, and the town outlines a plan to resume payments via a PILOT in 2015, detailing a timetable from September meetings to a final council approval in October and resumed collection in January 2015.
