Front Royal Council moves toward PILOT fee collection on U.S. 522 corridor
Town Manager Steve Burke outlined a schedule to collect payments in lieu of taxes from businesses along the U S 522 North corridor, with a Jan 1 2015 start and meetings with the EDA and local businesses. The council approved sending a formal letter by a 4-1 vote while one member opposed and another recused due to legal firm ties. The 1998 corridor agreement ties water and sewer service to PILOT fees for non town located businesses, including shopping centers opened in 2007 amid new regional projects nearby.
