Cedar Creek Civil War re-enactment draws large turnout
The Cedar Creek battle re-enactment drew more than 500 additional re-enactors than preregistered as participants recreated the Union and Confederate tactics from the 1864 clash. Spectators from Canada and New York attended, with comments on scale, history, and the annual event dating back to 1990.

Town readies Main Street for Halloween trick or treaters
Front Royal plans its fourth Hometown Halloween on October 31 from 6 to 8 PM with Main Street closed from Crescent Street to Blue Ridge Avenue. About 500 people are expected as businesses and the Warren County Sheriff's Office hand out candy and host activities including a Headless Horseman display. Pumpkin Party Set for Saturday
FRONT ROYAL The Warren County Parks and Recreation Department will host the annual Halloween Pumpkin Party from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Community Center. Events include pumpkin chucking carving a cake walk and a costume contest with certificates to Melting Pot The Alamo or Wal Mart. Admission is 8 and 5 extra for a pumpkin carving.
