Fire Dept burns houses for Leach Run Parkway construction training
Warren County Fire Marshal Gerry Maratico led 49 staff and volunteers in burning two houses and an old school as training for the Leach Run Parkway project near Happy Creek and Shenandoah Shores. Donated by the Front Royal Warren County Economic Development Authority, the structures will be partly retained for the new middle school site. Construction on the $12 million road is slated to begin next year.

Town budget advances to second reading in Front Royal
In Front Royal on May 27 the town approved the first reading of its 39.2 million fiscal 2015 budget with a 4-2 vote. If the measure passes on June 9, water rates and connection fees rise 6.5 percent and sewer fees rise 10 percent, adding about 26.28 dollars a year to a typical 3000 gallon water user and 116.16 dollars for a typical family.

Monthly Town County meeting covers park security bridge route
A bi monthly liaison meeting between Front Royal town and Warren County officials discussed skate park safety and a proposed Morgans Ford bridge route. County Administrator Doug Stanley said Parks and Recreation asked the Sheriff to patrol the skate park to enforce newly revised regulations by the board of supervisors.

The Warren County Board of Supervisors unanimously authorized the Economic Development Authority to buy a house on John Marshall Highway for 245000 to aid the Leach Run Parkway connector. They also approved a 1 million loan to acquire remaining properties and easements for the road.
