Mayor Tim Darr told Warren County Supervisors the town will not rule out consolidation but will delay discussions until a town study of revenues and expenditures linked to the U.S. 340 522 North Corridor is finished. The council also asked to review Springsted Inc. findings before any annexation or corridor talks proceed.

Flooding in Warren County prompts 17 rescues and 38 calls
Overnight rains dumped 2-4 inches across Warren County causing widespread flooding. Six residents evacuated from homes, six from stranded vehicles, and five campers rescued from an isolated South Fork Shenandoah River island. Fire Chief Mabie cited heavy calls and full staffing as volunteers and career responders joined efforts.

Ceremony honors fallen officers at regional memorial
Ricky Timbrook II placed a flag in a wreath to honor his father Winchester Police Sgt Ricky Timbrook at the 11th annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service at the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy. The service remembered eight officers who lost their lives in the line of duty including Sgt Timbrook. Kelly Timbrook Weart, Ricky’s mother, called the event wonderful as the community continues to honor his memory.

Broadway man killed in I-66 truck rollover
Warren County Virginia state police report a gasoline tanker crash on I-66 near mile marker 11 killed 61 year old Broadway resident Warren E. Wood. The driver of the Toyota that struck the tanker, Hen Yon Kim, 23, Stephens City, faces reckless driving charges. Westbound lanes were closed about 11 hours for fuel offload and scene cleanup with detours in place before reopening at 3:35 p.m.

Front Royal man indicted for stabbing girlfriend at park and ride
Eric Lamont Garris 29 of Front Royal was indicted in Warren County Circuit Court on one count of malicious stabbing and one county of stabbing in the commission of a felony. He allegedly stabbed Cassandra Porter 24 during a domestic argument at the Linden park and ride. Porter was treated at Warren Memorial Hospital and Winchester Medical Center after Garris drove her there. Garris was arrested February 16 and is held. A hearing is set for 9 a.m. June 3. The May 5 grand jury also handed down 13 other indictments.
