Virginia hatchery upgrade ties to DuPont settlement
The hatchery in Front Royal is being modernized with filtered water and new rubber pond liners to boost production and water conservation. Upgrades, funded by a 2017 DuPont settlement of 42 million dollars for mercury damage, will allow restocking of the Shenandoah River system with smallmouth bass and other species, expanding to walleye and northern pike.
