Port seeks TIGER grant to fund expansion expansion
Port of Virginia aims to submit a Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery grant request with federal match potential. CEO Reinhart says this would be the port’s only TIGER filing this year as Inland Port in Warren County draws 39 manufacturers and distribution centers and over 8,000 jobs. The inland facility moved about 37,000 containers last year, up 1.1 percent, while the port averages 200,000 twenty foot units per month and 2.5 million TEUs annually, nearing $1 billion in revenue. Senator Obenshain praises cross party support for a $350 million state investment and port modernization.
