Front Royal man indicted for stepfather slaying

Front Royal resident David Glynn Hoyle Jr. aged 33 was indicted by Warren County Circuit Court Grand Jury on one count of first degree murder and one felony firearm count for the death of his stepfather Warren Howard Ramsey, 58. The indictment cites a Grand Jury finding and names Hoyle’s Grand Avenue address.

Skyline teacher indicted for indecent liberties with students

A grand jury formalized charges against Steven Bretsch 33 of Virginia Beach for two felony counts of taking indecent liberties with children by a person in authority. The former Skyline High School teacher was indicted last week in Front Royal authorities.

Relish Recipe Survives As Front Royal Carnival Tradition

About 1,500 pounds of cabbage and onions yield over 500 gallons of mustard based relish for the Front Royal Fireman's Carnival. Lifelong department member Hoss Feldhaus says the relish has a little tang and bite and has been kept since June in 30 refrigerated barrels. Firefighters began churning it in the 1950s after recipe discovery at a baseball game by Hugh Williams Skilllet Henry and former Sheriff Gary Keyser. The carnival opens Wednesday and runs through July 22 with the Cook Building at 5 30 p m and rides at 6 30 p m across from Bing Crosby Stadium.

Neighbors quarrel lands man in jail in Warren County

James Bowles, 36, of Louwill Lane Bentonville Road area, was arrested Friday night on charges of assault and battery and threatening language over public airways. Police responded to threats, gunfire heard near Bowles’ home, found a man crawling with an unidentified object, Bowles fled before being arrested on Catron Ridge Road. He is held without bond at the regional jail. investigators seek tips.

Superheroes greet young patient returning home in Front Royal

Mason Langlais, a four year old treated for rare gene mutation in Boston, came home to Front Royal after a seven month stay. Kurt Sponsler of Front Royal Credit Union organized a DC character meet and greet at 1 to 4 PM at 538 Villa Avenue, funded by the Mason Langlais Fund. Sponsler and friends wore Batman and other costumes, calling the event almost movie quality.

Longtime EDA Chairwoman Patricia Wines Dies After Illness

Patricia Wines, longtime chairwoman of the Front Royal Warren County Economic Development Authority, died Tuesday morning after an extended illness. EDA Executive Director Jennifer McDonald praised her as a dedicated volunteer and community participant. Wines served 16 years on the EDA Board and was a local bookkeeper and tax preparer.
