ALICE study highlights hidden poverty in Front Royal area

A Front Royal Warren County United Way study shows about 49 percent of Front Royal households and 27 percent countywide fall into ALICE, meaning asset limited and income constrained but employed, with 37 percent of all households experiencing ongoing financial struggle. The 2015 census data fed into a basic household budget for housing, food, child care, health care, transportation, taxes and miscellaneous costs.

4-H Camp Builds STEM Projects at Northern Virginia Center

At the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center summer camp, youths like Brady Thompson and B Cameron Kie design watercraft with pennies and craft materials while others sketch space toaster concepts and marshmallow structures. Ex-teacher gets month in jail for indecent liberties

Steven Bretsch a 33 year old former Skyline High School teacher with a custodial relationship pleaded no contest to two counts of indecent liberties with children. Warren County Circuit Court Judge Ronald Napier sentenced him to six years with all but one month suspended. Incidents occurred from March through June 2016 at Skyline High School and other locations.
