Verona Matron Ends Life in Verona Home
Mrs. Simon Bonka, about 39, shot herself with a 30-30 rifle on a Verona stair landing, using a trigger string. Found by her son as doctors treated her, the death followed years of ill health and futile relief from an incurable condition. Funeral planned for Sunday in Wakefield.

Bootlegging Arrests Follow Liquor Law Violation
William Wiitanen of Trout Creek was rearrested within a week after paying a $600 liquor law fine. He and his younger brother were chased by Gust Pallin in Ironwood and found with a gallon jug of whiskey in the car. In Wakefield on May 6 he was arrested after his car was damaged on the Sunday Lake drive, with forty gallons of moonshine found inside. They are bound over to circuit court for trial this term, marking his second liquor violation this term.

Vaino Kangas Dies. Rites Held at Finnish Lutheran Church
Funeral services were held Thursday at the Finnish Lutheran Church for Vaino A. Kangas who died Saturday at Grand View hospital after a yearlong illness with consumption. Born February 1907 in Wakefield he lived here most of his life, survived by his parents Gust and Mrs Kangas and six siblings all at home.

The death and identification of Domenic Tarro may be resolved at the June term in Springfield Illinois after a $30000 bond order. Tarro, a Wakefield native, disappeared from Beald Illinois in January and body found May 2 in the Ape River near Springfield was identified by ten relatives and friends. Federal officials suspect foul play and say Tarro may still be alive, while others tie the death to rivals in illegal rum operations.
