Michigan Governor’s veto tests civil service impulse
Governor Williams vetoed a Michigan Supreme Court order restoring Brig. General Louis A. Kunzig as business manager of the liquor control commission. The move sparks a partisan backlash, with civil service advocates arguing the veto undermines the court and state policy. Charles Lampi leaves for North Dakota to work on the Garrison Dam project.
