Commencement Plans Set for Wakefield High 1955
Wakefield Township high school schedules Baccalaureate on Sunday June 5 at 8:00 PM in the gym and the Forty third annual commencement at the community building theater on Tuesday June 7 at 8:00 PM. Theodore Pearce of Michigan Tech will deliver the commencement address. The program includes student speakers, a class song, musical selections, and diploma presentations by school officials. Congratulations to Warren Sibley on his birthday June 3.

Cancer Drive For City, Township Completed
The annual drive for funds for the American Cancer Society was completed in Wakefield and Wakefield Township this week. The response was $608.37, with sixty percent staying in the county. Twenty five percent supports the research program, twelve percent for education, services, and administration, and three percent for medical grants. Gogebic County Chapter offers Loan Closets in Ironwood, Bessemer, and Wakefield with beds, wheel chairs, gowns, and dressings for home patients. Co chairs were Mrs. A. James Gilbert and Mrs. Harry B. Sutter, assisted by many volunteers.

Stanley N. Tyack Dies After Prolonged Illness at 62
Stanley N. Tyack 62 lifelong Wakefield resident died Friday at Grand View Hospital from a heart condition. A World War I Navy veteran and lengthy public servant, he led Wakefield police for 25 years, chaired the Grand View board, served on the city council and school board, helped found local American Legion quarters, and held bank and community posts. He is survived by his wife, his mother, three daughters and six grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have not been set.
