William F. Pellow, Bessemer city attorney and Gogebic county circuit court commissioner, announced his Republican bid for prosecuting attorney. He will run in the September 4, 1928 election. Pellow, born in Trenwood, educated at Luther L. Wright High School, University of Michigan, admitted to the Michigan bar in 1920, and has since practiced in Bessemer. He has served as city attorney, legal adviser to Bessemer Township and the township school district, is active in fraternal and welfare work, and holds welfare officer duties with the Bessemer American Legion. He will speak at the district American Legion convention in Bessemer.

The Wakefield ball club plans its first home game Sunday at the local park with Winegar opposing. The 2:30 PM game aims to revive city baseball with local stars and newcomers contending for regular berths. Meanwhile the city approves a $386,344 asphalt paving plan for about twelve blocks of Wakefield streets, awarded to W S Veters, with concrete on Hancock between Alcherman and Sunday Lake. Fire wardens to enforce fire prevention in state
State fire wardens will enforce new fire prevention laws this spring. Andrews, chief fire warden, told the Northern Michigan Road Builders’ association meeting in Sault Ste Marie that district wardens have been notified and that court action will follow if laws are ignored. He cited five fire sources and goals to limit forest burn to under 0.5 percent annually, with progress targets over five years. Governor Green accepted an invitation to speak at the Upper Peninsula Development Bureau banquet in Ontonagon on June 28, with a list of government and tourism officials attending.

No Clue To Burglar Found At Cleon Motor Co
No trace of the burglar who broke into the Cleon Motor Co. late Friday night or early Saturday morning has been found. About $200 was taken from the safe. Gloves were used and a search light left behind. The safe was opened by the combination and the dial broken off with a hammer. Fingerprint experts from Marquette investigated Monday and suspected the burglar was part of a band active in the peninsula for weeks.
