Johns Takes Fifth in MTU 440 at Northern Intercollegiate Meet
Stan Johns of Michigan Tech finished fifth in the 440 yard dash during the Northern Intercollegiate Conference meet held May 19 20 in Marshall Minnesota. The Huskies totalled 31 points to finish third behind Moorhead and St Cloud. Johns is the son of Mr and Mrs Kenneth Johns Tobin Addition Wakefield.
Norrie Defeats Balkans In Bessemer Slowpitch Shootout
In a Thursday night Bessemer slowpitch game, Norrie beat Balkans 16 to 4. Norrie recorded 18 hits to Balkans 11, with Syrene Erickson and Korhonen contributing two base hits for Norrie and Trolla for Balkans. Home runs went to Kalla Kra Vetz Erickson and Trolla on Norrie, Trolla Honkala Kazmarek Ray Sibley on Balkans. Winning pitcher Keronen. Losing pitcher Ray Sibley.

Junior Luther League Final Meeting Saturday
The Junior Luther League of the First Lutheran Church will leave the church at 6 p m Saturday for their final meeting of the season. They will go to Black River Harbor for a picnic and bonfire. Lunch will be provided for this outing. Tim Zuidmulder and Harvey Kauranen are in charge of transportation, Ben and Amy Creger are in charge of arrangements.
