Secretary Edwin J Lintonen states the hill will be the largest of its kind in the world once finished and asks the county board to consider funding to promote the new ski hill.

Private Gerald K. Nordine of Wakefield Michigan with the 11th Airborne Division Training Center at Matsushine Army Air Base near Sendai Honshu Japan completed a one week Air Transportability course. The program covered loading methods knot tying lashings and load balance. Nordine then applied skills in a two hour equipment laden flight after basic training at Fort Knox and overseas posting near Yokohama. He qualified as parachutist after five jumps from an aircraft at 1200 feet.
