Wakefield Matron Dies After Childbirth Tragedy

Mrs. Mike Krznarich, 36, died early Friday at Wakefield General Hospital from infection and shock after childbirth. The baby died hours earlier. she had fallen ill Tuesday. Doctors from Ashland consulted with local physicians, and operations were performed on Wednesday and Thursday. The family of seven children lived near the cemetery. she was born in Austria and had resided in Wakefield for 13 years. Funeral plans were not yet set.

Eighty Two Children Examined At Clinic Run By Woman's Club

Eighty two children from infancy to three years were examined at a clinic Thursday led by Dr. Rowe and organized by the Woman's club. About a quarter showed conditions needing immediate attention. all will be followed up and treated. Severe rain and forest fires west of Wakefield hindered operations.

Michigan Legion elects Connor Vice Commander at Grand Rapids

Robert Connor of Ironwood was unanimously chosen department vice commander of the American Legion of Michigan at the Grand Rapids convention. He was named a delegate to the national convention in Chicago in October. Resolutions urged Michigan delegates to a form a mechanism in Chicago and to enforce the Veterans Preference Act, with statutes pending on pre discharge wartime veterans from public positions without hearings.

Theatre Bid Delays and Labor Changes Hit Wakefield Camp

Motorcycle Crash Ends Vietta Mars Life

Vietta Mars aged 26 died after a motorcycle collision with a car owned by his sister Miss Grace Kruutari near east Pierce street last Friday evening. The rider traveling east struck the car coming from the west, was thrown onto the car, and died of head injuries before hospital arrival. Passenger Clifford Hessey in the car sustained no injuries. Mars leaves Elmer, Paul, Charlie, and two sisters, including Miss Grace Kruutari. funeral arrangements follow.
