Printz defeats two challengers to win Elkton mayor
Wayne E. Printz with 334 votes will return as Elkton mayor after defeating fellow council member Joshua J. Gooden who had 279 votes and former councilman Ran dell L. Snow with 230 votes. Printz, 56, has 20 years in Elkton leadership and will replace Mayor Roy Gene Davis.

Fox claims open seat in Shenandoah
Lynn Fox led a four way race to fill the Shenandoah council seat vacated by I. Mike Lowe who resigned May 30. Fox 58, a local businessman, won 272 votes, more than the other three candidates combined. Francis Worley 104, Craig C. Lando 78, and Matthew Clark 64 followed. Full results appear next week.

Arrest in Shenandoah thefts named Jeremy Adams
Shenandoah police arrest 29 year old Jeremy Richard Adams in connection with late July thefts from homes on North 2nd and North 4th streets. He faces two counts of breaking and entering two counts of grand larceny one count of property damage a misdemeanor. Items stolen include towing motors reels and rods drills tools a compound bow and more. A witness saw Adams leaving his residence as police released details.

Elkton nears monthlong wastewater contract renewal
Town Manager Kevin Whitfield reports the council approved a one year renewal for Inboder Environmental Services at 240 000 dollars, same as last year, while August requests for price reductions were not acted on due to time constraints before the September 10 contract expiry. Negotiations to begin with Indo are planned.

Big Gem Park adds shelter and picnic area
Shenandoah officials say a new shelter and picnic area at Big Gem Park has energized the area. Since its August completion the shelter has been rented nearly a dozen times with raffles and donations totaling 5 071 and town funding of 18 000. Fifteen picnic tables cost 2 493 from Stoneburner Inc and local contractor Charlie's Backhoe built the shelter and installed a dusk to dawn light for 20 575. The public may rent the shelter or the hilltop gazebo for 25 each.
