North Side Diner changes hands in Shenandoah
Rudolph and his son Doug Rudolph take over the North Side Diner at 418 N Fifth St under Rudy's Enterprise LLC to keep the long serving Shenandoah eatery open. They plan to continue the North Side Diner name and add Pappy's pork barbecue while the building has housed multiple businesses over the years.

Longtime Elkton resident recalls town and Merck era
Sam Gentry a 93 year old Elkton native reflects on a life marked by service in World War II at Hickam Field and a decades long career at Merck. He recalls helping stake out the Merck plant site in 1941 and leading the Merck Inter Union Council during a 1984 six plant strike. He notes Elkton's change to modernized while keeping its core character and remembers the 1925 tannery fire witnessed as a child. He is a longtime Lions Club and American Legion member and survived by his 64 year marriage to Virginia Graham.

Grottoes to gain ABC liquor store this fall
Virginia ABC expects to open a new 1800 square foot store in Villa Crossing Shopping Center at 85 Augusta Ave in Grottoes by late fall after signing a 25 month lease with Grottoes Group LLC. The plan follows prior ABC moves including Elkton Plaza West relocation and emphasizes selling spirits wine and mixers.
