Elkton council approves ads and notes signage updates
Elkton council approved $525 from the Economic Development Fund for ads at Goodfellas Pizzeria and Shenandoah Valley magazine. Councilman Gerry Comer reported signage installed outside Elkton Area United Services thrift store on Rockingham Street and Spotswood Avenue to stop leaving items out after hours. He also cited a refrigerator dumped at the wastewater plant by 15917 Old Spotswood Trail.

50th lawn party kicks off Thursday at McGaheysville
The 50th annual lawn party runs Thursday through Saturday at McGaheysville Volunteer Fire Company on McGaheysville Road. Food rides and entertainment feature Kelly May, Full Throttle, and fireworks at 10 p.m. Saturday. The event includes a beauty pageant at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and a Fireman's Parade at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Mission trip a win win for area United Methodists in Peru
A group from three Elkton area United Methodist Churches spent a week in Peru teaching VBS to about 300 Quechua children in Ayacucho and Millpo. They provided medical care as part of a broader mission, with fund raising totaling 12600 dollars for the effort.
