Velker Cabinet Maker Finds Roots in the Valley
Velker, a cabinet maker from Florida, moved to Elkton with his wife Jennifer in 1999 after a visit sparked a love for the Valley. They rebuilt life here, bought a former car dealer building in 2008, and now average about one house remodel or build per week while keeping a 6,000 square foot shop. Velker, 46, grew up in Miami, left radio operations and a Bible ministry, and emphasizes rural living over Florida’s bustle. The couple’s children attend Redeemer Classical School Keezletown, and three of Velker’s siblings plus in-laws have relocated to the Valley.
