Elkton town officials announced a $30,000 grant from the Virginia Department of Health to study the water system. Whitman, Reynardt and Associates of Blacksburg will conduct the survey to locate pipes and valves as aging infrastructure is replaced.

Great Eastern Resort announced that its holdings including Massanutten Peak Construction and Wilderness Presidential Resort are now under an Employee Stock Ownership Program. ESOP trust bought final shares from Dice Hammer and heirs of Jim Lambert, completing a 22 year sale process. Hammer remains president, with his son Jimmy on the board.

American Cancer Society community manager Kaitlin Pomerleau plans a Memorial Day weekend ceremony for cancer survivors caregivers and families who lost loved ones in Shenandoah The event tentatively set for May 27 to 29 accompanies the town's 19th Memorial Day Festival and aims to add a southern Page County observance alongside the main relay in Luray. Volunteers are being recruited with contact lines for Pomerleau and Nancy Karnes. The Page County Relay for Life fundraiser event at Luray High School is slated for June 17.
