Elkton Service Center Wins February Business Award
Elkton Downtown Revitalization Corporation and the Town of Elkton named Steve Lam's Elkton Service Center as February Business Appreciation of the Month. In a letter from EDRC President Charlie Dean, the history of the site in Elkton's downtown triangle was traced from the 1890 Bear-Palmer building to current ownership by Dick and Marion Sandridge, who lease to Holtzman Oil, with Lam operating the station. The note praised the station's pristine appearance and frequent fresh paint as a reflection of Lam's care.

Judge to hear motion in Goodcase wrongful death suit
A Rockingham County judge will hear arguments this week on whether to dismiss a $5 million wrongful death lawsuit filed by the estate of Rachel Good against the town of Elkton and two former police officers. Good, a 20 year old pregnant mother of three, was last seen October 18 2003 outside the Elkton Volunteer Fire Company and police believe she was murdered though her body has not been found. In 2010 a judge declared her dead.

Skyline Care and Art Hosts Heart Charity Fundraiser
Skyline Care and Art on Mount Olivet Road near Massanutten opened its doors Friday for a family friendly benefit to aid Mended Little Hearts of Shenandoah Valley. Volunteers offered face painting and drawing materials for visiting children while adults donated small gifts.

Elkton Elementary School fourth graders, 45 students, spent an hour with WHSV-TV3 meteorologist George Hirschmann. He narrated a CD about his studio work, answered questions on lightning heat and thunder, heat lightning, and tornadoes, explaining how weather phenomena form and why the United States experiences more tornadoes than anywhere else.
