Elkton eyes sale of Kite 189 acres mansion site
Elkton Town Council will discuss selling 189 acres formerly owned by Mary Elizabeth Kite and Dr. Joseph Hiram Kite at a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday August 17 at the Elkton Area Community Center. Pham Chopra has offered 2.5 million for the property including the Kite Mansion and surrounding tracts.

Fundraiser Dinner Aims to Buy Caboose Pole Barn
Shenandoah Heritage Center plans a Saturday Aug 15 fundraising dinner to raise funds for a pole barn to shelter the caboose outside the Stevens Cottage at 201 Maryland Ave. Tickets are 15 in advance at Shenandoah Town Hall or Shenandoah General Store. The menu features pulled pork pork loin baked beans coleslaw Waldorf salad and assorted pies and cakes.

Local artist paints Bigfoot footprint at Elkton business
Elkton resident Michael Jon Wawrzyniec, 55, known for Bigfoot art since 2000, now has prints on display at Semper Fi Computers in a town office near Fifth Street. He also paints wildlife and landscapes and credits a 2010 accident for turning to art full time. He recalls possible Bigfoot glimpses, noting evidence is blurry but compelling, and aims to capture images cameras cannot.
