Beaty Sworn In as Cincinnati Assistant U S Attorney
A Lee Beaty aged 54 of 81 West Seventh Street Cincinnati Negro attorney was sworn in as assistant United States district attorney in Cincinnati. The oath was given by Harry A Abrams another ADA. Beaty, a Republican, is the first Negro in Ohio to hold such an office and possibly the second in the nation. He is a Cincinnati native and former legislator known for Civil Rights Bill efforts. the community hails his elevation.

A Stowe School pupil suffered paralysis early this week, disrupting the opening exercises. The student is now much improved and has a good chance of full recovery.

The new one million dollar Stowe School at Seventh and Cutter streets opened yesterday for partial use while transfers from older buildings will occur later. Principal Miss Jennie P Porter fell ill on the eve of the ceremony, delaying class movement. Superintendent Dr Randall J Connon aims to complete organization for next year, with summer classes offered. The 1400 pupils will benefit from tests across grades for psychological guidance, and the modern facilities include training shops, lunchroom, swimming pool, library with 32506 volumes, gymnasium, auditorium, and space for a 16100 organ and a motion picture machine funded by Miss Porter.
