The Colored Industrial School hosts a Friday night pageant under its auspices to raise a Scholarship Fund. Over a hundred students have completed industrial trades courses and many have advanced to other schools. Sixteen will receive certificates this summer. Sept. J. Decatur leads efforts to provide opportunities for further study and advancement for needy students.
Report notes many persons interested in the welfare of those at the school are subscribing for a number of tickets.
K of P and Knights of Pythias units in Carthage and Palestine hold 36th and 37th anniversary events at the Carthage Fair Grounds and Columbus Ohio. Endowment Board meeting set for Sunday June 17 led by Capt 8 T Sneed, president, with Polar Star Lodge No 27 also in attendance.
Recital presented by RECITAL features soprano Nadyne Roberts Waters and violinist Abram McClenny of the New England Conservatory Boston with Miss Helen Greer at Memorial Hall located at 13th and Him Streets. The program is set for Thursday evening June 28 1923 at 8 o clock with admission 6 cents.
On Monday night June 18 at Park Street Church William D Sulzer the famed baritone will give a charity recital for Ray Dandridge a long time invalid. He will be assisted by Miss Helen Greer pianist Mr J W Gray violinist and Madam Matthews accompanist.
Thomas J. Howard was re-elected to the vice presidency of the State Association of Colored Elke at the annual East Liverpool meeting last week. An Elk for seventeen years, he is Past Exalted Ruler of Alpha Lodge No. 1, the Mother Lodge, and is described as one of Hamilton County’s most popular and capable lawyers.
