Clara Young joins city’s first woman in a long race
Miss Clara Young, graduate of Woodward High School Commercial Class, becomes the first woman in the city to attain the position in the Common Pleas Court, serving over two months with noted honor. Mrs. James Isom hosted her husband’s birthday gathering Tuesday. Mrs. Fannie Douglass of Chicago visits sister Lula B. Hoggans. Mrs. Clifton Isom held a surprise party for her husband last Thursday. A Bible study on what the Holy Spirit is and is not will be held at Knights of Honor Hall on Sunday June 17 at 3 PM, free of charge. Mr. Hubbard of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Howard and Mrs. Mayes of Indianapolis were guests of the Jacobs family last week. Mrs. R. C. Jones and daughter bought a new Buick 5 passenger car. Mr. Wm. Gunn will attend the Dempsey-Carpenter fight. his observations will appear in The Union.
