F. and A. M. Column notes Lodge No. 1 was warranted January 16, 1848 and meets first Monday at True American Lodge No. 2 warranted March 18, 1848 with First Friday meetings at St. John's Lodge No. 3 warranted May 26, 1848.
All members of the Masonic fraternity are requested to attend a general mass meeting on Wednesday April 27 at the Masonic Hall. Important information will be given about the building proposition and what is required of us. Be at the hall on that date prepared for the work ahead.
King Solomon's Consistory No 20 A A S will meet on Sunday May 1 1921 with important business to consider. All members are requested to be present at 1 30 p m on that date.
Grand Commander Edward M. Parsons of Ohio Knights Templar will attend Simon Commandery No 1 K T on Friday evening May 13 1921 for an official conclave. Commandery will be inspected and all Sir Knights must appear in full Templar regulation.
At the April 18 1921 meeting True American Lodge No 2 conferred B A degrees on a large class. The ceremony took place Monday evening with several candidates receiving the degree during the lodge proceedings.
A meeting of the Committee on Revision of the Code will be held in Dayton in mid May. Members include Chas L Porter D G M Day ton Ohio John H Bowles Columbus O John H Johnson Gr Historian Cincinnati O. The committee was formed during Grand Master Howard T Greer’s term and is making progress. Members are invited to present changes to the general law for discussion and consideration.
Word from Indianapolis says Brother Fred H. King is doing as well as could be expected under the circumstances. The note urges readers to keep the building proposition in mind and pay something on their pledge. Every little bit helps to make the project a go.
The Jewish Passover and Feast of the Unleavened were celebrated by the Church of God and Saints of Christ with large crowds filling the immense auditorium. Bishop J. M. Grove and Bishop Dickerson led the events while Chief Evangelist S. W. P. Harper directed widespread services. The singing and spirit-filled ceremonies drew extensive praise from attendees.
The Evangeline Home grows from a Salvation Army effort aiding unfortunate colored girls and women. Adjutant Wright leads a capable team with hospital annex services, with support from Mrs. D. B. Meacham and other society leaders, bringing medical care and moral guidance to those in distress.
The Grand Goblin of seven states addressed the Cincinnati Klan camp on Friday night, aiding initiation of about 40 new members and urging strict law and constitutional loyalty. He defends the order as protectors amid criticism, while recalling the Klan's brutal past and questioning white supremacy.
Federal witnesses testified on April 17 in Atlanta about the Jasper County farm murders tied to John H Williams and his son. A Negro infant was killed when it interfered with Williams's cook, part of a pattern of alleged slavery and killings reaching 18 total. Miss Sarah Weaver, an Atlanta nurse, first accused the Williams family.
Witnesses testified to Williams and his three sons abusing enslaved people. A cook’s baby was allegedly killed on Williams's orders after birth in 9. A witness reported stains on the cook’s cabin. Federal agents heard the claims of mistreatment and a disappearance.
Aaron K. Frick argues Billy Sunday is a controversial preacher whose public zeal awakens thought but whose gospel endorses a view of hell as eternal torment. He contrasts that with his belief in Sheol Hades as tomb and Gehenna as final destruction, defending God’s mercy and the wideness of salvation. Frick closes by noting his address at 934 West Eighth Street and C. L. 8.
Cincinnati Community Chest plans a mass meeting Sunday at 5 pm at the Ninth Street Branch Y M C A to promote the 1921 drive. Speakers include A E Anderson chairman and C M Beckman director of the Council of Social Agencies. A glee club will perform for the first time in this city section. Social workers, agency boards, and officers invite the public to hear plans and enjoy the program.
