Parksville 12 year old wins Middletown soap box derby
Wes Illing edged Mike Baxter to win Middletown's first derby in 20 years with a 19.8 second run on a 600 foot East Avenue course. He earns a $500 bond and a trip with his parents to Akron to compete nationally. Wallkill supervisor Jack A. Schlosser narrowly beat Middletown Mayor Jerome Markovits in a chair-driven runoff.
