Pike and Sullivan counties fight gypsy moth outbreak
Pike County completed its 1973 chemical war against the gypsy moth with 14 000 acres sprayed and an evaluation due this week. In Sullivan County rain paused spraying but DEC officials expect to resume, with helicopters applying Dylox to about 1 200 of 4 500 acres in western areas. The effort, costing 3 87 per acre and funded by federal, state, county and local sources, targets moths in privately owned lands and near Boy Scout camps.
