Berrigan Leads Protest Sermon From Outside St Patrick's
At St Patrick's Cathedral in New York a mass for peace was disrupted when antiwar priest Daniel Berrigan was barred from delivering the sermon. About 200 parishioners, led by Berrigan, left the service and gathered on List Street to hear him speak, criticizing Cardinal Cooke over Vietnam, church authority, and questions of moral duty. The counter-mass proceeded for about 30 minutes with disputed invitations.
