Golden Anniversary Observed By Hands
Mr and Mrs Frank Hand pioneer residents of Cheyenne county observe their golden wedding anniversary last Saturday Decoration Day. Married May 30 1892 at Bordwell ranch five miles east of Sidney they have lived here since. Mr Hand 78 and wife 70 remain in good health on their ranch six miles south of Sidney. Three of six children at home were Mrs Roy Walker Mrs Emma Cassidy and Lester with Nora Vera and Esther in Oregon. (Continued on page 6 col 1)

Heavy Gas Shows In Well Near Gering
Fuerst Oil Development Company reports gas pressure at their test well south of Gering rising to about 100 pounds per square inch, with a daily flow exceeding 500000 cubic feet. The well reaches 2500 feet as oil scum appears near the Niobrara formation. Six inch casing is lowered gradually to control gas flow while the public is invited to observe at their own risk due to potential gas pockets and blowing tools.

Former Peetz Youth Killed Near Denver
Lyle Maley age 19 son of Mr and Mrs J O Maley former Peetz residents died in a Denver car crash when his vehicle struck a loaded truck. A gasoline can exploded igniting the car flames and he was trapped in the wreckage before rescue crews could reach him.

Bones Found In Well Near Ogallala Farm
M. J. Lingelbach drilling a well on the Charles Washa farm west of Ogallala airport brought to surface a set of bones. Found at 123 feet on Brule clay, the bones were broken by the drill, making classification difficult. Keith County News reports.

Fehringer is Killed in Accident Near Cozad
Anton Fehringer 45 a Peetz resident died after being struck while repairing a tire beside his car near Cozad. He died at a Corand hospital several hours later. Survived by wife Loretta and four children, with funeral services held at Sacred Heart church Peetz. Born March 3 1897 in Humphrey Nebraska, he married Loretta Schilz March 4 1924.

Gerald Johnson Graduates Air Force Basic Flying School

Three Northport youths die in Friday highway wreck
A car travelling south on Highway 19 two miles north of Huntsman plunged at high speed when a tire blew out. Sidney Durham 14, George Durham 17, and Charles Brown 17 died. John Bigelow 17 was hospitalized with severe injuries. Sheriff Schulz noted a total vehicle collapse and nine chest fractures in George Durham.

Series of Criminal Charges Filed Here
Minor crime activity rose in Sidney over the weekend as Gerald Henderson and Earl Nelson of Scottsbluff, both on the ordnance depot project, were turned over to U S Deputy Marshal Earl Sweeney on gasoline theft charges from a government vehicle. They were jailed on $1,000 bond and slated for North Platte trial after patrolmen detained them following a guard saw them fleeing with ten gallons of gas. Three transients, Harold Woods, Orvind Peterson and George Bradden, remain in county jail for stealing a ride on trains and await fingerprinting. Morris Goeman faces a complaint for obtaining property under false pretenses, augmented Friday, with continuation noted on page 46.

Fox To Open Auditorium In Sidney With Continuous Shows
The Auditorium theatre will open Saturday afternoon with a 1 30 performance. Fox will operate the theatre with Saturday and Sunday shows starting at 1 30. They have leased the city auditorium and upgraded cooling and sound systems. Two Car Collision On Highway 30 Saturday
A car driven by Dean Robinson was hit from the rear by another vehicle driven by Tony Piota about four miles west of Sidney on Saturday night. No one was seriously injured. Less Hopper Damage Expected This Year In Nebraska

Peetz Man Injured in Farming Accident
C. M. Kitchel of Peetz was taken to Taylor hospital after a tractor accident on Hawkins Farm three miles north of Peetz. The tractor hit a hole, throwing him from the seat and the disc ran over him. He was transported to Sidney by Mr. Hawkins.
