Cheyenne county farmers received wheat loans totaling 914000 dollars as the 1939 program ends. Chairman James H. Campbell of the Agricultural Conservation committee stated indirect loans must date before January 1 1940 and direct papers must be delivered or postmarked before that date. Loans mature April 30 1940 for farm stored wheat and seven months from note date for commercially stored wheat. In all 1364 farmers received loans covering 1255681 bushels, including 461865 bushels continued on page 6 column 3.

District Judge I J Nisley denied two motions for new trials in damage cases heard last session. Kenneth Kilgore and Publix Stores faced a $10 290 judgment after a collision involving Adolph Engstrom, a Kimball county farmer struck by Kilgore who was delivering for Publix Stores. Engstrom’s injuries were described as possibly permanent.

Brief Rites Held For Shipman Infant
A one pound eleven ounce daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Shipman born Wednesday night survived about thirty hours in an incubator at Taylor hospital before dying early Friday morning. A brief funeral was held Friday at Rice Funeral Home with burial at Sidney Greenwood cemetery. Mrs Shipman is reported in good condition by Dr. B H Grimm.

Roy E. Greenlee departed Sunday for New York City and will sail Wednesday on a Norwegian freighter as the first leg of a three month cruise with overland visits to South America. He plans Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires, then overland to the west coast and a northern sea voyage with several tourist port calls. Mrs. Ella McCarthy, 80, longtime Cheyenne county resident and Norway native born November 24, 1859, died at home Saturday after years of poor health. Pioneer who came to the area in the 1880s, she lived on a homestead and a farm near Sidney before settling in town. She married Jerry McCarthy in 1890, widowed in 1897, and remained in Cheyenne county. She celebrated her 80th birthday last November as an honor guest. a lifelong Lutheran and Dorcas Society member.
