Stewart Earhart son of Mo and Mead Earhart was taken sick on Sunday with the mumps. Subscriptions to the News received in the past week include Kale Brenneia John Franken and Rosa G Coons.
The Lincoln Star advertises a daily and Sunday edition subscription offer through November fifteenth, 1980. Readers are urged to subscribe directly or via the News offices to receive complete and accurate reports of both parties.
Late June notes from Steele City include visits by Mrs. Armstrong of Minden to Mrs. Forsha, Paul Beckwith and family in Omaha with Mr. and Mrs. Beekman of Diller at the Carl Schultz home, and a baptismal birth announced for Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Palmer of Vebron on June 23. The Nori Brothers Shows announced a July 24 Steele City appearance. Charles Melton of Waco, formerly Steele City superintendent, was a weekend visitor. Lincoln visitor Mary Edington stayed with her parents ROH and Mrs Edington. a new barn project is underway near Kindicott replacing a burned structure.
The Presbyterian Church held a One Church for All service with Knights of Pythias delegation and prelate remarks. Memorial Day graves were decorated, and a youth group meeting followed in the evening. Church notes mourn the passing of Mrs. Claude Wade and report community events, including the Steele City Commercial Club plans and local family obituaries.
The 4 H club met at Helen Webling’s home with Helen leading the Clothing club and sister Fania Webling assisting. Officers include Hope Reng president and Stella Roseman secretary. Mildred Roseman as news reporter. Members listed include Rene, Leepna Roseman, Reba Hansen, and Margaret Bughee. Refreshments were served and the first year sewing work planned.
The Steele City Village cemetery, under village management, has a polished appearance after careful cleaning of brush and excess clay. Ralph Arner and family attended a reunion in Bellville Kansas with about forty relatives present. The North Brothers Shows promote The Show that Always Pleasen appearing in Steele City on July 8 4 and 6 with a large advertisement on page 5 in this week's News.
