Summer Session Study Center Offers Credit Options

The Summer Session Study Center opens registration for college or high school credit with a county director overseeing courses. Financially constrained students may earn two to six hours of college credit at low cost, while teachers seeking credit for financial reasons may also participate. Presbyterian Church Seeks Growth with Mission Focus

Marriage of Miss Ella Loth to Harvey Meints

Miss Ella Loth of Diller and Harvey Meints of Beatrice were married June 20 at St. John’s Lutheran Parsonage Beatrice with Rev Lechner officiating. Attendants were Mr and Mrs Harry Allen of Diller. After a 5 pm dinner the couple returned to Beatrice where the groom is employed at the Store Craft factory.

Kendall Couple From Long Beach Suffer Minor Car Crash

Two Day Steele City Celebration Planned With Posters

Plans for a large two day celebration in Steele City include two color posters issued by the News office and room advertisements to help accommodation for visitors. Local opera house crowd enjoys successful Saturday performance

The home talent show drew a packed house last Saturday at the opera house. Performers included Doris Harper, Mrs. Will Garrett, Lester Hardesty, J Gehrt, Katherine Bennett, Velma Wealing, and Charles Crehrt with songs, readings, and instruments. Guests from Omaha and Fairbury attended, and plans for a July celebration stall and race entries were noted.

Fairbury Man Injured In Bridge Crash

Linn Marthis of Fairbury was in a collision with a bridge abutment while driving a Gat neat. He was unconscious after the crash and was aided by Mr. Petsch who transported him to the local nasputa where Dr. Morgan treated facial lacerations. He returned to Fairbury that evening. Wheat cutting begins in the area with estimated yields from twelve to thirty bushels per acre.

Clayton station clay pit accident injures Haddix

H. W. Haddix suffered severe head and shoulder lacerations when a wagon load of clay shifted after a hoist cable broke at the Clayton station clay pit. He was brought to Joca Hospital where Dr. Morgan sutured eighteen times and saved the car. other workers sustained cuts and bruises. The U S Civil Service Commission announces open competitive examinations for Chief of probation and parole service, supervisor of probation, and assistant supervisor of probation in the Bureau of Prisons, Department of Justice with salaries from 3800 to 5600 a year.
