Carl Boehmée a business visitor in Fairbury Wednesday. E A Stark and wife of Fairbury were Monday guests of W D Heady and wife. W Ritchey of Fairbury was the guest of friends here last Saturday. Archie Anderson returned home Monday after a visit to Kansas City Missouri. Monday June 16 is the date of the regular meeting of the Steele City Commercial club. John Thornburg and wife and Hazel Hawk of Western were Steele City visitors last Sunday. Mrs Henrichs and Mrs Seng visited this week with John Seng and W D Heady and wife. W C Palmer and wife and Mrs S P Deems spent Sunday in Hebron at the Wallace Palmer home. Subscriptions to the News were renewed in the past week: Clark McCurdy, R E Adams and George Graff, Fay Shottenkirk and wife, and Mary Evelyn of Beatrice visited V Lester home Saturday and Sunday. Howard Saddix and wife of Fairbury visited Tuesday evening at the home of the former’s parents. Fay Clark and family and Mrs Ida M Clark left Sunday for Akron Ohio, about two weeks. The Misses Bernice and Esther Gretzinger, Eva Outhier and Mildred Kenning left Sunday for Peru for summer school.
A. J. Brabee and family of Lincoln visited Tuesday and returned with Mrs. H. W. Haddix and son Robert. Mrs. George Porter of Marysville and Mrs. Joe Carve with children from Grand Island visited the Bundy home. Mrs. Andrew Phelps is recovering well after a Saturday hospital operation in Odell. Thirteen youths gathered at the Pete Wenz home Wednesday evening to chairvari Mr and Mrs Frack Bigler wed Tuesday of this week.
Wwm H Nider, a candidate for Jefferson county clerk, spent Wednesday in Steele City assessing the political scene and handling personal business matters.
Seventy alumni attended the annual Steele City high school banquet on Friday evening June 6. Howard Deems hosted. toast topics followed a balloon ride theme with Pilot Minnie Webling and other roles. Rev J E Filinger led invocation. decorations featured lavender and gold. menu included fruit cocktail, meat loaf, mashed potatoes, corn, hot rolls, and ice cream.
Town residents urged to clear premises and vacant lots of weeds and unsightly objects during the week of June 16 to 21 by the Village Board. Local residents Ruth Wilson and Gordie Beavers are noted in visitors and health updates among a list of community notes.
W C Bundy and family attended a Sunday picnic in Fairbury city park. The gathering brought together twenty four relatives for a family outing in the park.

The Farmers Excursion sponsored by the Fairbury Kiwanis club will take a ten coach special train to Manhattan Kansas on June 12. Passengers include Henry Schuette Lester Ellison John Rohifs Wm Wehling and two local daughters. Entertainment and transportation are planned with meals prepared by Kansas State College dieticians and the Experiment Station laboratories open for inspection. Home Economies School ready for visitor scrutiny. George Garber and wife of Helvey visited Steele City seeking an assignment for their son's newspaper at Western.

H G Wilson and family of Hastings arrived here Wednesday. He has been appointed administrator to his father s estate.
Mr and Mrs William Franken and Mr and Mrs John Franken visited Saturday evening at the Frank Franken home near Hollenberg Kansas confirming social ties among local families.
Mrs Henry Meyers and Mrs Massady for strawberries at John Janssen s Tuesday. John Janssen bought a new Kay loader last week. Mrs Long has been quite sick with rheumatism. Li Crouse of Clarinda Iowa and two children spent Friday night with Mrs Long. They were on their way home from Colorado. Mrs Harvey Powell spent Friday with Mrs Henry Myers. The Baker medicine man was in this neighborhood Friday. One of Mr Shratt s daughters has been spending the week at Henry Williams Dave Mahoney and wife and George Kenning spent Sunday at Perry Carrico s. Mr Shratt s lost a horse Saturday it fell into a mud hole. Mr Egenberger and family Milo Adams and wife J Malady and wife spent Saturday afternoon at the Cora Cuthbert home Fred Kenning and daughter Mil
Mildred remained in Peru to attend schools while Fred Kenning and wife visited Sunday. John Janssen also went to Peru with others. Henry Myers wife and daughter Bethel spent Sunday at the Roy James home. The Ey Oaks area was mentioned in relation to these visits.
