Post mortem in Criselhurst finds Napoleon’s kidneys severely diseased and death imminent from circulatory failure. Eugenie plans to proclaim Regency during the Prince Imperial’s minority. In Marpao, the Carlist insurrection grows, with armed insurgents in multiple provinces and government troops ordered to concentrate to prevent surprise.
Marshal MacMahon told a supreme council of war that while Napoleon's officers may remain, there is no Bonapartist party if President Thiers dies. He referenced the late Ex-Emperor Napoleon and the likely course of his adherents.

Barr seized a kerosene lamp and dumped oil on a red hot stove causing a blaze that set Barker's dress on fire. She was burned severely before help arrived. All involved were arrested.
