George A. Linter 305 Sherman Street secretary of The People's Outfitting Co. died last night at St. Joseph's Hospital after a brief illness since last Sunday. He is survived by his widow Alberta W. and two daughters Georgia and Mrs Clyde Maxwell of Racine. Body moved to Wunderlich and Harris undertaking. funeral arrangements not yet complete.
Lieut James Dolan of Joliet fire department will retire after 24 years of service. He lives at 118 Walsh street and joined May 7 1907. Promoted to lieutenant February 19 1921 after passing the examination. He was cited for bravery and injured several times in the line of duty.
Silver Cross Hospital trustees mobilize for a September 12 tag day to raise funds for free charity care. Chair Fred M. Chamberlain notes a doubled deficit from last year and urges public support. event led by women, with Mrs. Merton Heiss as chair. Headquarters in the Cutting Building on Jefferson Street.
Emil Olson phoned the police from a Collins Street pay station and taunted officers as they arrived. He boasted about “slipping one over” on the cops and is now held at the calaboose awaiting further action.
Bob Bates was nabbed for speeding at Jefferson and Clement streets by Officer Frecktelton. The case was set for today before Prof Judge John Nicholson. Bates is son of Harry H Bates of 410 Richards Street.
