Plan to Equip Police Cars With Radio Receiving Sets

Chief Nicholas Fornango says two squad cars will get radios within ten days. A direct line to the radio station will curb hoax calls. Radios reportedly cut crime by over fifty percent in other cities. Raymond Faymergo and station managers support the plan and will ensure night duty at the transmitter.

Police Sweep Fails to Find Joliet Hoodlums

Police searched Joliet last night after reports two Chicago gangs sought Joliet as headquarters. Sergt. Ernest Overby and Detectives Clarence Kearns and William Kwasnewski questioned several suspects but found no trace of the men. Officers warn hoodlums arrested will face vagrancy charges.

Boy Dies After Automobile Mishap

Eight year old Donald McGee, son of Mr and Mrs alter McGee, died after injuries from being struck by a car Tuesday in Silver Grebe. The crash occurred near 1610 am con street with the boy sustaining fatal injuries.

Speeding motorist nabbed after funeral procession chase

Sacaria Gallardo of 1208 North Scott Street faced a police court today on charges including speeding driving without a license and resisting arrest after a motorcycle officer stopped a vehicle that drove between funeral cars and refused to halt during a pursuit on Scott and Cass streets.

Vigginelli Still Leads In Joliet Contest

With one week left in Joliet’s popular young man vote Angelo Vigginelli remains in first place. Thule Furlong holds 18 120 votes and Fred Krehn 16 990.
